IFC Supports Energy-Efficient Technology by Investing in Russian Electronic Materials Manufacturer

Stavropol, Russia —IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, has signed a $10 million loan agreement with Stavropol-based Monocrystal, to help the Russian electronic materials manufacturer strengthen its position in the growing light emitting diodes (LED) market and expand its capacity to produce materials used in energy-efficient technologies.

Vodafone a mobile money transfer service provider that enhances Microfinance announces that it has agreed to acquire Borusan Telekom, an enterprise focused provider of fixed voice and data services in Turkey. As at 31 December 2008, Borusan Telekom had gross assets of US$18 million and for the year ended 31 December 2008, net revenues of US$70 million.
